Taiwanese Falun Gong Practitioner Detained by Mainland Authorities
台灣法輪功學員遭大陸當局拘禁

Legislators in Taiwan are urging the government to help secure the release of a Taiwanese businessman detained in China.
台灣立法委員正敦促政府，協助被拘禁在大陸的台灣商人的獲釋。
53-year-old Zhong Ding-bang failed to return to Taiwan on June 18th after visiting relatives in southern China. His family in Taiwan say they were later told by Mainland Chinese relatives that Zhong was taken from the Guangzhou Huangjin Airport by state security officials
53歲的鍾鼎邦，在南中國探視親戚後，並沒有如期在6月18日回到台灣。他的台灣家人說，中國大陸親友告知他們，鍾鼎邦是在贛州機場，遭國安官員帶走。
Zhong was apparently detained because he practices Falun Gong. The Chinese Communist Party has persecuted adherents of the Falun Gong spiritual practice for the past 13 years.
鍾鼎邦很明顯地，是因修煉法輪功而被拘捕。中共在過去13年中一直迫害堅定的法輪功精神修煉者。
On Friday, Zhong’s family joined Taiwan’s opposition legislators in a press conference to call for his release.
週五，鍾鼎邦家人協同台灣反對黨立委，在記者會中要求釋放他。
[Mrs Zhong, Wife of Taiwan Businessman Detained in China]:
“The traditional Dragon Boat festival is here soon, it’s a day for family reunion. But my mother-in-law cannot see her son, and my daughter can’t see her dad.”
鐘太太說：「傳統端午節快到了，這是家庭團聚的一天。但我的婆婆看不到她的兒子 ，我的女兒也無法看到她的父親。」
[Miss Zhong, Daughter of Taiwan Businessman Detained in China]:
“I hope the government will do what it can to help my dad return home.”
鍾鼎邦的女兒鐘小姐說：「我希望政府能夠幫助我父親回家。」
Zhong’s family say he was taken by officials tasked with persecuting Falun Gong, and they have lost contact with him.
鍾鼎邦的家人說，他被負責迫害法輪功的官員帶走，他們已與他失去連繫。
Chinese officials have so far not notified Taiwanese authorities of Zhong’s detention. That’s despite the two sides currently negotiating a treaty to protect the rights of Taiwanese businessmen in China.
中國官員迄今未通知台灣當局鍾定邦的被拘禁，雖然兩岸目前正在協商一項保護台商在中國的權益。
[Yu Mei-nu, Taiwanese Legislator]:
“President Ma has been talking about closing the gap between the straits. Personal safety protection is one of the main indicators of this, and can’t just be all talk. We have a real life case here, so we hope that the Ma administration can really incorporate this in the investment protection guarantee treaty."
台灣立委尤美女說：「馬總統一再講拉近兩岸距離，人身保障是重要指標，這個不是只有嘴巴講的，今天我們有實際案例在這裡，所以我們希望馬政府，能夠確實把這個納入投資保障協議裡面。」
Taiwanese authorities in charge of cross-strait relations say they are now looking into Zhong’s detention, after his family filed a case with them on June 19th.
台灣負責兩岸事務的有關當局說，在鍾鼎邦家人於6月19日報案後，他們現在正在調查此案。
